Getting that next promotion is easier than you think.

As an executive recruiter and career counselor, I spent a lot of years watching people in corporate America get ahead and have seen many hard workers never get anywhere. I spoke to both employees and their bosses.
I began to see patterns. There are reasons that climbing that corporate ladder is easier for some than for others. There are behaviors and attitudes that make executives want to promote you or keep you forever frustrated.
These are easy skills to master. People just don’t know about them.
I will tell you.
I have spent over 30 years as a career coach and employment consultant for staff at more than half of the Fortune 50, including companies like Macy’s, Fedex, Hilton, Volkswagen, Toyota, HP, J.P. Morgan Chase, Boeing, Bank of America, KPMG and Aetna (among others). Developing an online marketing agency, I broadened my toolbox to include the latest technologies in her career coaching.
- Helping companies get the most from their employees by helping employees get the most from their careers
- Mapping out and strategizing career paths
- Dealing with the challenges of relationship building between the generations in the workplace
- Finding happiness and satisfaction in your work
When not helping my clients develop their best resource (their employees), I focus on my family, my quilting or UCLA sports. My family is always the most important and includes my husband Bob, four kids, four kids-in-law and ten grandchildren. And there is nothing I love more than huge, loud family get-togethers. As an internationally known quilt artist, I love working at my machines. But, even more, I love helping other budding artists find their voices. “As a metaphor, quilting gives us an opportunity to express individual ability and share our gifts to make the world a better, warmer place.”
Bob and I met in the dorms at UCLA, and our first date was a UCLA basketball game coached by the inimitable John Wooden. His teaching has always been a formational inspiration to me. I try to live up to the ideals of doing your very best in everything.
“All of the above is even more fun with a little bit of Russian River wine and some very dark chocolate,” is my philosophy, adding “Life is good.”
